Weingart Tower Breaks Ground
Located near the corner of Sixth and San Pedro streets, Weingart Tower is the first stage of a multi-phase approach to providing Permanent Supportive Housing for individuals experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County. The development features 228 studio apartments, 47 one-bedroom apartments, and three one-bedroom apartments. Phase one of Weingart Towers recently broke ground, kicking off construction on the largest homeless housing development in the city of Los Angeles. The 278-unit, 19-story, ground-up residential tower, will offer affordable housing to address homelessness in the city, specifically on Skid Row. Not only will the new tower provide homes but the space will also be used to provide support services to residents. The Weingart Center's mission is to empower and transform lives by delivering innovative solutions to break the cycle of homelessness.
Phase two of the project consists of a 12-story tower offering 104 units, bringing the total units across the whole development to 382. Weingart Towers will also feature a cafe, kitchen, fitness room, computer room, rooftop sundeck, and courtyard.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by various project team members and community leaders including the Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, Kevin de Leon (Councilman, District 14), Mark Ridley-Thomas (Councilman, District 10), and Miguel Santiago (Assemblymember, 53rd District). We are proud to be working alongside the Weingart Center Association, Chelsea Investment Corp, AXIS/GFA, Swinerton Builders, and Emmerson Construction, Inc. on this ambitious project to better the City of Los Angeles. Weingart Tower is scheduled to open in December 2023.
