Southern Illinois University Edwardsville - Prairie Hall

Approval for a second residence hall was given by the President’s office in June 1997, with the requirement that it be completed for the fall 1998 semester. This allowed 14 months for design, construction, and occupancy. In August 1997, a very active construction market resulted in bids which exceeded the budget by $1.7 million. Through University endorsed negotiations, PMA was able to negotiate and reduce the contract amount to the point that the project budget and the start of construction was approved. Despite a significantly wet “El Nino” winter, the project was completed on time and on August 21, 1998, over 500 students moved into Prairie Hall.
