The St. Josaphat School addition and renovation project included the construction of five new early childhood classroom spaces, a media/library center and additional administration office space adjacent to the school’s historic 1902 gymnasium and 1962 classroom building. The new lobby was a focal point of the renovation between the gymnasium and the addition. A new elevator between the building provides full accessibility. A phased construction schedule was implemented to accommodate the continuous occupancy needs of the school. During construction, the project also included masonry restoration to the existing buildings. Project management challenges include phasing the construction with a fully occupied space throughout the school year.
As the owner’s representative, Project Management Advisors, Inc. (PMA) managed the design team through the end of the construction document phase, provided construction administration, schedule oversight, budget management and project accounting. During construction, PMA assisted ownership in change management and operational logistics with respect to construction phasing. Total construction duration was approximately 14 months.
