Saint James Cathedral is Chicago's oldest Episcopal Congregation and has a fellowship of 400 members. Project
Management Advisors, Inc. (PMA) was retained to manage the Cathedral's interior renovations, as their owner's representative. In this role, PMA helped provide Saint James Cathedral with solutions to implement a complex project including construction phasing, site logistics, operations, design, and budget development and management.
The SJC worked with the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago to review a campus master plan, including the original renovations planned for the Cathedral. The planned renovations included the addition of classrooms or multi-use space in the Undercroft of the Cathedral, an ADA accessible renovation of the Narthex, new glass encased stairs connecting the three levels of the Cathedral, plans for a new elevator, and an exterior ramp for accessibility requirements. A renovated space above the Narthex was also planned for dramatic views into the Sanctuary and to serve as a meeting place for Cathedral members.
