La Rabida Children’s Hospital- Inpatient Room Renovation

La Rabida Children’s Hospital retained Project Management Advisors, Inc. (PMA) to manage select activities from preconstruction to close-out for their Second Floor, South Wing renovation. La Rabida Children’s Hospital is a private, non-profit healthcare organization providing comprehensive care to children with lifelong medical conditions and disabilities, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

The renovation project entailed the conversion of existing inpatient rooms into state-of-the-art single occupancy rooms. Existing mechanical and patient care equipment was removed and updated to align the new inpatient rooms with the latest technology.

PMA’s services included development of the procurement strategy for architect and general contractor services, including request for proposal (RFP) development, evaluation of submittals, consultant selection and contract negotiation. PMA also advised on and managed the selection process for miscellaneous owner required vendors, permit strategy and coordination with the IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health), and performed code analysis and code review in conjunction with the project team. As a result of PMA’s budget management and implementation of an accelerated five month, double-shift construction schedule, the hospital realized a significant savings in total construction costs.
