This project entailed the renovation of a 2,100 square foot cold shell space into modern scientific research space consisting of a state-of-the-art lab with two isolated tissue culture rooms, administrative office space, and a secure and segregated drug storage room.
The project objective was to create sufficient laboratory and scientific support space to support Kyowa Hakko Kirin California, Inc.’s pre-clinical and clinical pharmaceutical research, while following the current guidelines of the Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP) for ongoing quality assurance and regulatory requirements. Project success was dependent upon Project Management Advisors, Inc.’s (PMA) schedule and budget management, attention to the overall project quality, and coordination among the client, the project team, building management (La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology), University of California San Diego’s Facilities Design & Construction Department, and other various consultants and contractors.
