In 1993 School District #102 undertook a restructuring of the educational approach and a reconfiguration of their elementary schools, which resulted in the need for development of a new middle school to house approximately 600 fifth and sixth grade students. PMA was initially engaged to assist in programming requirements for the new facility, design team selection and management of the design process. PMA was further involved in referendum planning and support activities, including public television programming to describe the consensus building process leading to the referendum and reasons why it deserved resident support. Following referendum passage, the district elected to self-manage the construction process with in-house facilities staff. When the project became seriously behind schedule, primarily due to extended inclement weather conditions, PMA was re-engaged to develop and manage a strategy for ensuring an on-time/on-budget completion. In August 1994, Meridian Middle School opened, thereby allowing the district to fulfill its educational facility objectives. PMA was recognized for their diligent efforts in bringing about this success by having their name included on the engraved dedication plaque, which is prominently displayed in the building's lobby.
