National University demolished an existing 23,000 square foot, single-building educational site in San Diego and redeveloped it into a multi-building campus that has become one of the premier National University System campus sites.  In order to maximize utilization of this redevelopment they were required to build a 317 space parking garage.

Our challenge was phasing the campus development to allow existing operations to continue on-site with minimal disruption during construction.  The parking garage was in the middle of the site thereby impacting the entire property.  Limited project economics and stringent city guidelines forced the design team to evaluate many options.  Project Management Advisors, Inc. (PMA) in conjunction with their client, identified student counts, parking requirements, class timing and completion deadlines.  PMA then assisted in identifying both a design and construction solution to the problem.  PMA’s project scheduling helped guide the project through design, entitlement, construction and move management, keeping the team focused on the priorities of National University and successfully achieving the four-phased project completion.  National University is now able to offer expanded services and convenient parking for their students.
