Maine Plastics, Inc., a recycler of industrial and post-commercial plastics, determined that their North Chicago headquarters facility, which had already undergone numerous expansions, could no longer meet the demands of a growing industry. The company decided to pursue an ambitious relocation effort of the entire headquarters operation to the City of Zion, located 11 miles to the north. The company subsequently purchased an existing 112,000 square foot facility and adjacent land to accommodate a 110,000 square foot facility addition. Project Management Advisors, Inc. (PMA) assisted in the selection of a project delivery method, procurement of construction services and project implementation. Services included budgeting, scheduling, contract review, construction administration and management of vendor contracts.
The $12 million relocation project has provided improved space both for office and warehouse personnel and enabled Maine to operate at a higher level of efficiency, increasing production and company profit. This growth resulted in the commissioning of third-shift supervisors and personnel for the first time in the company’s history.
